Puebla Governor Rafael Moreno Valle. Session of the National Commemorative Committee of the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of May 5.
The National Commemorative Committee of the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Puebla conducted a study, analysis and transcription of the manuscript by Patricio Ramos, which is in the Palafoxiana Library of the city of Puebla
The artist Ramos and Ortega was recruited, by chance in the early hours of May 3, when he left his home at five in the morning to work on his profession. He was planning to work in several private homes, without knowing what destiny had stored for him. » The painter participated that day in three fights. Nevertheless he never lost his vision as an artist. He remembers telling his wife, when he finally returned home (p. 28):
“I am going to paint a picture of the battle and the glorious episode where I was with my companions. I want to manifest the truth of the heroic events, where I will stand, and you will see me stand, with all my true and good countrymen. I dressed as a patriot, with my tan-colored flus, my talin, my holster and my rifle without bayonet; fighting and defending the honor and the right of my country”
